Care Information

Timber

Wipe clean with a damp cloth and then wipe dry with a clean cloth.
Occasional application of beeswax based furniture polish is recommended.
Do not use a silicone-based product.

Natural movement of the timber must be expected as it adapts to the conditions of your home. Wood may change shape due to variations in humidity and temperature. Care should be taken to avoid extreme heat conditions, moisture and light as this can cause the wood to swell or shrink, or start to show small signs of cracking. Strong sunlight can affect the colour in some cases.

Composite Timber

To ensure long life and shine, just mix soap and water and wipe the furniture clean with a soft damp cloth and wipe dry with a clean cloth.

To give extra protection against hot cups, plates etc and accidental spillages, it is always best to protect the beauty of your furniture with placemats. Should you use damp cloth to clear spillages, wipe with a dry cloth immediately.

Use felt pads on any surface that comes in direct contact with the furniture.

Outdoor

For everyday cleaning, a quick wipe over with a damp cloth is sufficient.

To maintain strength, avoid discolouration and fading the timber must be protected using a suitable outdoor timber furniture oil. It is recommended oiling be done at least every two months, depending on exposure.

Minor scuffs and scratches can easily be covered with a coat of oil. Deep scratches need to be sanded out and oiling concentrated in that area until the lustre is uniform.

Leather

Under normal usage/conditions regular dusting and vacuum cleaning in crevices or bases is all that is necessary. The use of a good leather conditioner is recommended every 6-12 months.

For minor spots and spills, wipe up any excess liquid immediately with a clean absorbent cloth or sponge. If necessary, use a lightly moistened soft cloth with clean lukewarm water and let air dry naturally.

Do not use soap or soak the stain heavily with water. If the stain persists, it is recommended that a professional leather specialist clean the leather to avoid any potential damage.

Protect your furniture from sun and direct light like any upholstery material. It may fade to some degree if exposed to strong sunlight.

Upholstery

Avoid positioning your furniture in direct sunlight where it will fade.
Try and utilise all the seating so that the covers and fillings wear evenly.
Plump and turn over cushions regularly to maintain shape and durability.

Any spillages should be blotted up straight away. Do not use detergents or rub as you could cause permanent damage.

Use the upholstery or drape attachment to vacuum your furniture weekly. Also recommend using a fabric treatment to ensure protection against permanent stains.

Mattresses

Rotate your mattress regularly to even out the wear and tear. Don’t bend or fold your mattress or let children jump on it, as this could damage the mattress construction.

Don’t soak or dry – clean the mattress. Vacuuming is recommended, or a mild soap and water solution for stain removal.

At least once a year, take it off the bed and leave it out in the sun to air.

Steam is also effective on mattresses and pillows for both killing bugs and removing stains.
