Avoid direct and continuous exposure to sunlight. If your rug is in a sunny spot or main thoroughfare - rotate rug around occasionally to equalize wear.
Use rug protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to avoid flattening piles.
Remove spills immediately: if liquid, blot with clean, undyed absorbent cloth by pressing firmly around the spill to absorb as much as possible. You can use a fan or a hair dryer on a low heat to dry the area.

Shake out or vacuum your rug regularly to remove any dirt or debris from settling into the roots of the fibre.
“Sprouting” is a normal characteristic of natural fibred rugs. Avoid pulling yarn out of surface; use scissors to trim sprouts that occur to make them even with the rug surface.
